About Curbstone

Curbstone is more than a payment processing company. We provide our customers with SaaS technologies that solve their most pressing challenges – whether that’s processing credit card payments on their IBM i system or iSeries; moving sensitive data off their network; reducing processing fees; or automating time-consuming, fragmented, payment processes.

We've Been In The Industry For
More Than 25 Years

We’ve seen countless changes to the payment landscape. However, our mission has always remained the same: providing fast and secure payment processing tools that support our customers’ unique needs. We’re here to accommodate the infrastructure – and business processes – that you have in place today, while supporting new initiatives as you grow.

The Curbstone Story

In 1993, our founder Ira Chandler (fondly known as the Payments Wizard) wrote the first commercial credit card processing software for the IBM AS/400. In 2002, he began building Curbstone from small startup to major player in the payments world, currently processing more than $6 billion per year in transactions. Ever since, we have been focused on IBM-native technologies. Our expertise in the IBM i and iSeries ecosystem is unmatched – as is our ability to provide support for native applications.

To guide our customers through the ever-changing IT landscape, we introduced additional tools for non-IBM operating systems, including Windows, AIX, and Linux. Through every new development cycle, we have sustained a strong commitment to security, maintaining our status as a PCI-Validated Service Provider Level 1.

As we prepare for the future, our developers continue to introduce new functionality that reflects the diverse ways our customers do business – building, testing, deploying, and supporting each solution to accommodate real-world challenges.

Our Product Roadmap is driven by customer demand, and powered by the strongest team in the software industry. In 2020, Curbstone was acquired by Volaris Group, a subsidiary of Constellation Software. Their commitment to our existing direction, as well as the expanded resources they provide, are accelerating our journey toward payment processing excellence.

FAQ

Is Curbstone a payment gateway?

Curbstone does everything a payment gateway does, but with fewer limitations and no middle-man fees. Our payment processing engine is a powerful tool that accommodates your unique business operations. You can process any way you’d like, choosing what transactions to process and when.

What banks does Curbstone work with?

Curbstone works with any bank. Retain the depository bank where you currently have your business checking account, or choose a new one at any time. You’re never locked in to a financial institution.

What type of support does Curbstone provide?

We provide unlimited technical and operational support. You can contact our US-based support team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We not only know our systems inside and out, but we also understand the complex structure of the payment ecosystem. If you don’t know who to contact, call Curbstone; we will help you identify the best resource for resolution.

Is Curbstone PCI compliant?

Curbstone technology is compliant by design. Our multi-layered security approach was originally crafted by a PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA), ensuring the highest standards for privacy and security. However, don’t take our word for it: a third party QSA conducts annual PCI compliance audits to support our status as a PCI-validated Service Provider Level 1. Additionally, all of our customer-facing staff are certified by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) as Qualified Integrators (QIRs), trained and tested in the secure implementation of payment technology.

Does Curbstone sell payment processing hardware?

No. However, we do provide detailed documentation and guidance on all processes, including hardware purchasing. Our team will walk you through our solutions to help you understand what you need to get up and running.
